3/26/2018 3 Comments Niche Blog ProposalPart 1 : When trying to decide on what “niche topic” I wanted to do, an instant idea came into my head. This topic was the topic of reducing stress. Stress is something that affects my life daily unfortunately. This is because I have very bad anxiety, and I get stressed very easily when I am overwhelmed with my schoolwork. In my eyes, stress is something that more individuals as young adults need to learn how to deal with in a positive way because it impacts many people in a mental and physical way. This is why I wanted to create my niche based on this popular topic. I do believe that my known topic of reducing stress is a bit different from other individuals who have written about it in blogs. For starters, my blog will be different from other because of my personal, positive tone way that I write and connect with my chosen topic. For instance, since I am going into student teaching next year, I want to incorporate “how to deal with stress” as being a student teacher/teacher. I believe that this aspect will allow my niche blog to be a little bit more unique. I also want to interview my cooperating teacher about how she deals with stress in the classroom. I believe that this will bring a new perspective to my niche blog as well. I also want to incorporate a lot about how music helps with stress in one’s twenties, which I found a little information about, but I want to find out more. Music has helped me so much with my stress, so I want this factor to have an impact at least one of my blogs. As mentioned previously, I am going to include some of my own personal experiences based on both attributes to make it different from others as well. I want to take the tips that the other blogs used and incorporate them into my blogs in a more creative manner. I only want to include 3-4 standout tips in each blog so my readers will not be overwhelmed by reading each post. This will include: tips from my therapist, my mom.myself, and websites that I found. Finally, there is a specific audience that I want to look at my niche blog regarding how to reduce stress as a young adult (with teaching). As it has been clearly expressed, I want my audience to be men and women who are in their twenties that need guidance to reduce stress in their lives. My audience would also be student teachers/teachers who are looking for an easy way to reduce stress in their classroom setting that connects with their personal lives. Finally, the last audience I want to attract our individuals in their twenties who have or want to use music to reduce their stress. I believe that both men and women can be attracted/interested to parts of my blog. However, my main audience that I want to address is young women in the education field. I am looking forward to starting my personal, informative take on my niche blog soon that discusses stress for a mostly women in the education field as my audience. Part 2 |
I really enjoyed researching multiple blogs based upon my niche blog topic. Every single blog that I choose to use contained posts on how to reduce stress in your early twenties and in the teaching field. To begin, some of the authors that I looked into if they are commercial and are selling things on their blog page. For instance, on blogalities.com (one of my standout blogs based on appearance). Cassey Ho tries to sell her fitness planner on her blog site. She also has a store for her workout gear on a separate tab on her page. When looking at the author of justbreatheonline.wordpress on his “about me page”, it does not appear that there are any links to larger companies. It was noticed on his blog page that the purpose of his blog is to have his readers join him on his self-discovery. The audience of this blog in my eyes are young adults who are looking to relieve stress/improve their mind, body and souls in ways such as health and fitness. These could also pertain to individuals with stressful jobs, such as teachers ( which is my focus for this assignment). Most of the blogs that I researched did not have links to other companies, so I do not think they are really commercial. |
Next, I looked into how long some of the blogs that I really enjoyed have existed. To begin, justbreatheonline.wordpress started his blog in August 2017 (8 months).Looking at naturalnewsblog.com, this started in the year 2013 (5 years).Dominikaszeles.blogspot, has been around for a year. Coolcatteacher.com started her blog 13 years ago. unicheck.com/blog has been around for 3 years. Pampered teacher.com has been around for 4 years. Www.stresstostrength.com has been around for five years. |
When looking at the readerships for these different blogs, some do have more then others. Blogalities.com has a very strong readership. This is a true statement because she has 4.1 million viewers on her Youtube. She also has 1.2 million facebook likes on her page. There is one example of a blog that does have a lower readership as well. dominikaszeles only has six likes on her facebook page and comments were not really seen on her blog. Unlike this blog, www.headspace.com has over 2.5k likes on their facebook, causing them to have a very strong way to find an audience. Most of the blogs I researched have links to facebook pages, which I thought was pretty cool! |
It was also very interesting to look into the assessment/designs of some of the sites I researched. For example, blog.edentum.com has a design of being six categories on the top, a creative header, pictures, and popular blog posts on the front of their site as well. Naturalnews blog was a little crowded and overwhelming in my opinion when it came to the organization of this blog. Also, every single blog that I looked into has a specific voice and content when it comes to their blogs. For instance, https://www.huffingtonpost.com/emma-gray has a personal voice in her content about how to deal with stress in your twenties on her blog section of the Huffpost. Also, the coolcatteacher.com has an informative, engaging voice in her education improvement content blog. Thepositivtyblog also has a great personal voice! My favorite look of a blog that I looked into was truestressmanagement.com because of the uplifting voice that it expresses throughout the blog. |
. I learned different things from my sites about how to establish my own blog. For example, on coolcatteacher.com, I learned to have a engaging catch phrase for my blog because I thought that this was very appealing. I also learned from looking into multiple sites during my research that it is very significant to have an organized layout between your blogs. Pictures are also very important in my eyes to have in my blogs to allow them to stand out. Blogiates.com stood out to me with this factor. justbreatheonline.wordpress.com and unicheck.com also taught me to have good tips in my blog that relate to my topic; however, I also learned that I do not just want to rely on tips, and make it my blog more personal to the stress I have death with in my life. These blogs have provided me with inspiration on how to organize and layout my blog!
To sum up this post, based upon all of the research that I have conducted, I have determined some specific attributes about my own blog. I have decided a domain for my blog after looking at my research, and it is : messyandstressy. For my design specifics, I want the layout to have categories right on the top that address my specific blog topics. I also want to have a lot of pictures that refer to my topic. For my three topics, I want to have one post about how to reduce stress in the classroom in a teacher’s perspective. For another blog topic, I want to talk about how to start your morning in a non stressful way from a morning struggle that I had. I want to try to tie music into this too. This will tie into people in their early twenties/in the education field. For a third post, I want into a time that I was very stressed at night and the tips I used to overcome it. Finally, the voice that I want to adopt into all three blog posts is a relatable, uplifting /positive tone. This is due to the factor that since stress is literally a stressful/overwhelming topic, I want to keep it as inspiring as possible for my audience. I am looking forward to writing three blog posts based upon the research that I conducted!
Discussion of my revisions. I could not figure how to comment on my post, so here is a discussion of my revisions. I enjoyed looking back at my niche blog proposal to edit it in a successful manner. Revisions for this assignment occurred in multiple stages. Red comments represent the very first revisions that I made for this report. The darker blue are newer edits that I recently made. These also coincided with some new additions of references that were added to my proposal. The other similar blue are also very similar edits that I made, with just some adjustments to wording. The peer review I got was very vague, so most of the edits I adjusted myself. I did take some of their opinions into consideration though. My first edit was just the rewording of something in part one of the proposal. However, in the second edit that I completed, adjusted the wording and description a bit about how I would make my blog unique to make it clearer for my audience. Many of my edits consisted of me adjusting words and sentences in the proposal to make it clearer to read. Something that I took from my peer feedback was incorporating more information from my researched blogs. I made sure to mention something from basically all of my blogs. I also took into consideration the explanation of my three blog posts. When editing this, I thought about exactly what I wanted to do for my three blog posts. I also took into consideration adding a final conclusion to my niche blog proposal when completing it as well. |
